    Comprehensive system and software architecture evaluation and overhaul for a gas and electric energy management services firm. Technologies: EDI X-12, Mercator (an EDI tool), Trading Partners (EDI translator), ASP, IIS, SQL Server, Access, Visual Basic, PERL.

    Migration of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) system from a proprietary, expensive, VAN (Value-Added Network) to a zero-cost, Internet-based system. Technologies: EDI, Mercator (an EDI tool), Trading Partners (EDI translator), ASP, IIS, SQL Server, Access, Visual Basic, PERL.

    Migration of Accounts Payable from manual, paper-based system to automated, electronic system. Technologies: EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), Mercator (an EDI-Database mapping tool), Trading Partners (EDI translator), Active Server Pages, SQL Server and PERL.

    Supported financial risk management and customer account analytics by automating retrieval of satellite data feeds for real-time, gas futures prices into in-house database. Technologies: proprietary FIMI (Financial Information Management Inc) software and SQL Server.

    Sales proposal generation tool and pre-sales process management system for sales representatives of major window manufacturer. Technologies: Visual Basic, Access, automation of Word and Powerpoint.

Customer service web site for law firm: For a law firm that specializes in immigration and nationality law for corporate clients, designed and implemented a Customer Service web site to facilitate customer self-service and information look-up regarding on-going legal proceedings. Project benefits: increased customer satisfaction, reduction in time spent by lawyers on answering routine customer questions and secure, 24x7 client access to crucial case information. Order entry, case management and accounting system for legal services firm: For a Service-of-Process and litigation support services company, integrated six disparate SQL Server back-end databases and over eight Access front-ends into a single, cohesive SQL Server database. Redesigned and simplified user interface. Performed data cleansing and data migration. Technologies included SQL Server 6.5 and 7.0, T-SQL stored procedures and triggers, Access 97/2000 and Word VBA automation. For details, click here.

Multimedia asset management and order-entry system for pharmaceutical giant: For a Fortune-500 company, provided design and implementation services on a project involving the management of digital assets for their pharmaceutical customer. System features: management of electronic, audio, video and print assets; asset upload and download; various levels of security and access to digital assets; extremely intuitive and interactive web design. Technologies included Cold Fusion, JavaScript, Visual Basic, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Oracle, a host of special-purpose media management tools and several third-party software components.

Gross margin management, sales support and business improvement tool: For the world’s leading supplier of office supply products, worked on a tool to improve profit margins. Services provided include business analysis, technical design and implementation. Extremely user-friendly interface and stunning graphics. Project benefits: multi-million dollar increases in gross margins, increased customer satisfaction and improved inventory management. Technologies include Visual Basic 6.0, Access 97, InstallSheild and a variety of third-party ActiveX components.

Brand awareness and brand perception measurement internet application: Helped client develop additional revenue streams by designing and implementing an internet application for measuring consumer awareness and perception of corporate brand identities. Technologies include Active Server Pages (ASP), SQL Server 7.0, Javascript, Macromedia Dreamweaver Ultradev and Macromedia Fireworks.

New business feasibility analysis and return on investment (ROI) evaluation: M/W wanted to generate additional revenue streams by offering e-survey and e-campaign services. As part of this project, performed:
  • Evaluation of existing tools and technologies for customer relationship management (CRM) and E-Campaign management. Solutions surveyed included Epiphany, ExStatic, Egain, Annuncio, etc.
  • Evaluation of existing tools and technologies for implementing web-based customer surveys and questionnaires.
  • Developed strategies for integration of e-survey and e-campaign tools.
  • ROI (return on investment) analysis including comparison of outsourcing, leasing and purchasing options.
  • Analysis of skills and resource requirement for conducting web-based campaigns and surveys.

Comprehensive system and software architecture evaluation: For a gas and electric energy management services firm, provided various services including system and software architecture overhaul, project management, subcontractor selection and management, interaction with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) trading partner, tool evaluation and selection, technical design and architecture, authoring requirements analysis document, and coordinating development activities between off-site and off-shore programmers. Technical environment included Active Server Pages, Internet Information Server 4.0, SQL Server 7.0, Access 2000, Visual Basic 6.0, Mercator (an EDI-Database mapping tool), Trading Partners PC/32 (a windows-based EDI translation software using the ASC-X12 EDI standard), several server-side ActiveX components including SA-FileUp and ASPExec.

Migration of EDI system from VAN to Internet: Migrated client’s EDI system from a proprietary, expensive, VAN (Value-Added Network) to an open standards-based, zero-cost, Internet system. This migration saved the client several thousands of dollars each month in VAN charges. System supported exchange of purchase orders (850s) with trading partner.

Migration of Accounts Payable from manual, paper-based system to automated, electronic system: Automated the receipt of invoice-related information from client’s trading partner. Benefits of this automation included reduced monthly invoice-processing cycle time, reduced errors and better utilization of staff resources. Evaluated XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and ETL (Extraction, Transformation and Loading) tools to determine best approach.

Financial risk management and customer account analytics support: Evaluation of technical options and implementation. System helped client manage hedging activities and data analysis by providing account managers with real-time NYMEX gas prices using live satellite data feeds from FIMI (Financial Information Management Inc) systems into in-house database. System also supported real-time access to weather data, gas storage reports, etc.

Sales proposal generation tool and pre-sales process management system: Designed and managed the implementation of a database-oriented, Visual Basic application aimed at helping Anderson Windows’ sales representatives better manage the pre-sales process. Tool supported generation of customized proposals, presentations and cover letters to potential customers. Application features included a professional-looking, yet highly usable, user interface, easy upgradability of document templates and one-time setup and customization for users (Anderson sales representatives).
